Winter

The past couple days have been a swift kick in the gonads from mother nature. New Years Eve was unseasonally mild and bore no resemblance to the blast of wintery weather we have been hit with since. You never know what to expect when you wake up in the morning and like the prisoner set free by his dreams sometimes you just want to go back to sleep. Last night it was cold. The kind of cold that shoots right through to your bones and doesn't leave until well after you've cranked the heat dial in your car to maximum or settled underneath a mountain of blankets. It's easy to be bitter with the onset of winter but its a fact of life for Canadians so you might as well appreciate it for what it has to offer. As our internal clocks synchronize with mother natures it gives us a chance to slow down from our busy schedules, to rest and rejuvenate our bodies and minds, and to spend time with those nearest to us. It gives me the perfect excuse to stay in and catch up on my reading and god knows I have plenty of catching up to do. So if your feeling the winter blues, or your going through a bout of seasonal depression, cheer up. There's only 2, maybe 3 months left. 3 months tops!...yeah who am I kidding, the winter sucks :(
